Playing from the sand causes many people to suffer.  It shouldn't!  Out of the three short game areas pitching, chipping, and sand play, sand play is the easiest.  It is the easiest because it is the only shot that allows you to hit anywhere from 1 to 4 inches behind the ball.  No other shots in golf have that much margin of error.  So why do people freak out when they get in the sand?  I suspect it is a little fear and a lot of misconception.  Information is king.  The more you know about a particular shot the more at ease you will be with that shot.  The important thing to remember is to practice often.  You will get better, I guarantee it!
